I have a Windows XP, and everytime I put a DVD in the DVD Drive, it doesn't read the disk. When I go into my computer and click on the drive, it says to insert a disk even though there is already one in it. Does anyone know if this can be fixed, and how?

Are u putting a burned DVD in or a regular DVD?
Regular DVD, I'm pretty sure it's broken though, because it makes a clicking sound when I put a DVD in.

Sounds messed to up me too. Maybe look for a new dvd-rw burner/player. You can get an internal or external one for a decent price now
Before tossing the old one out, you can try removing the DVD drive from your hardware manager and letting Windows reinstall the drivers for it. And definitely try other discs in it to make sure it's not just one disc that isn't running.
Clicking noises aren't a good sign though. I've had a DVD drive fail on me once odd noises started coming out. Basically, something got into the drive and messed up the laser, and the clicking noises was the drive moving back and forth over the disc trying to read it.
At least internal DVD drives are pretty cheap now online. You can probably get one for less than $20 and likely less than $70 for a DVD burner.

I'm not all that great with computers. How would you do that?

First, go to the "Device Manager" which can be found after right-clicking on My Computer, then Properties, then Hardware, then Device Manager. Shortcut to get to System Properties page is to hold down the Windows key on the keyboard, and then hitting Pause/Break. Can also be found going through Control Panel.
Expand "DVD/CD-ROM drives tab, and then right-click on the DVD drive, and select Uninstall. After that, Windows will either re-install the driver right away or you'd have to restart the computer.

By any chance do you have a Dell computer? I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a seperate DVD and Burning Disc drives. The DVD one doesn't do anything also. I've tried reinstalling it and I even talked to Dell about it. They told me it was dead and I would need to get a new drive. Luckily it's still under warrenty.
