This isn't even an extreme lack of maternal skills. This is blatant selfish disregard of your responsibilities. Animals take better care of their young than some human parents do. :-#

I hope that woman goes to jail for years and never has kids again. Its scary how bad some parents are, I never imagined I'd read an article about a parent who let her 3 year old wander on to the highway.

Wow, what a bad parent. Letting your kid run on a highway? Ridiculous.

On another note, when the 2-year old was eating spaghetti off the floor, this doesn't mean she was eating a whole plate of spaghetti right off the floor. She could have dropped a strand or two and been picking it up off the floor, which wouldn't be all that uncommon.

Yeah and just because it says the boy was found playing on the highway doesnt mean he was actually playing, maybe he was just out for a jog, you know just getting a little exercise.

Way to play devils advocate. :-b

what kind of 2 year old carries around a plate of spaghetti, especially when the parent that would normally have to get the spaghetti out, warm it up and reach a plate and fork for the toddler is passed out on the couch.

The point is, the ignorant mother was asleep. If she were awake, and taking her responsibilities as a parent seriously, she would have seen her 2-year old drop her food on the filthy floor, as stated in the article, and stopped her. Yes, journalistic opinion gets out of hand at times, but this remark was warranted, I believe, as the writer was stating 2 facts. First, that she had another young child and second, that she was not paying attention to that child either.

I never said the parent was a good parent at all, and yeah, the mother definitely deserves to have the child taken from her. I was just commenting on how bad journalism is and how stories are always spun using bad wording....
