He carried that team on his back throughout the season. Without Vince i could easily see the that team winning less than 3 games.
I would agree with you had they made the playoffs. He did great things in Tenn, but he still just led a non-playoff team to not making the playoffs.
That makes no sense whatsoever. What more does this guy have to do to earn your respect?
Jones-Drew split carries, only got a real load of work for half the year and still had over 1300 total yards and had at least one TD in his last eight games. It didn't help the team win very much, but his offensive production was huge!
Vince Young had a really nice string of wins and seemed to spark the Titans at the end of the year, but statswise, he wasn't all that good. 13 picks to 12 TD's...that's Favre-ish.
maddog told us about McNeil; I would have never known about what he did unless maddog let us in on that, so thumbs up to both of them! Seriously, that's insane that he didn't give up a sack or get a holding call!
So, how do you determine best rookie? Team wins, or pure numbers, or both? Us fantasy guys would surely go for Jones-Drew since he got a TD in 12 of the 16 games he played. In the realm of the NFL though...I'm going to bet Vince Young gets it. QB's have a higher profile than RB's, and seeing as though the Titans won 6 of their last 7 games and almost made the playoffs, that's going to get people's attention.
The One, the Only, the Incomparable Mercer Boy. My My YouTube.
For my money the man who is so good he named himself twice: Maurice Jones-Drew. The human wrecking ball had the best season of any rookie.
McNeill had an amazing year, but suffers from being an OL and as such is invisible.
Bush started too slowly and loses value to teammate Colston.
Calhoun(d) of the Lions would have been in the running were it not for getting injured....and sucking...and being a Lions' rookie. That automatically prohibits a player from post-season awards. But does give them their pick of early tee times.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

Lots of good candidates this year, but I've gotta think MJD walks awaywith it.
Looking at it like this is all well and good, but when it comes down to it, Vince Young is going to win the award. Definitely MJD is my pick (and every fantasy manager's pick). But could Fred Taylor have done comparable things, I think so. Could other QBs have done the same things as VY? No. He's going to win, like it or not because he single-handedly won a few of their games. He also almost threw away the jax one, but all's well that ends well.

No Addai, even though he's the only rookie with 1000+ rushing yards?
All this Rookie talk and not a mention of Devin Hester? 6 return TDs (record), 108 yd FG return (record), punt and kick return in the same game (record), as well as changing how teams approached the Bears. With an offense as bad as Chicago's, Hester has added some much needed explosion to the team.
