Wow, this vote is an embarrassment to the cafe's intelligence. Besides having humor that is actually related to the plot of the show, South Park addresses major political and social questions weekly. You gain another perspective on many issues by watching South Park, which is a reason, even despite the language, that I wouldn't have a problem with my (prospective) child watching South Park.
Besides each episode being chalk full of meaning, the South Park characters are much more developed than their Family Guy counterparts, leading the interraction between characters being much more entertaining in the former. While I do enjoy the relationship between Stewie and Brian in Family Guy, the Cartman/Kyle relationship is just as entertaining and is viewable much more often than Stewie and Brian's. I also tend to see the South Park secondary characters (Butters, Token, Towelie, Mr. Marsh, etc.) play much more prominent roles in specific episodes, and succede in doing so...that can't be said as frequently about Family Guy.
Look, I own multiple seasons of DVDs for both shows. They are both funny and are certainly among television's funniest shows. That said, saying Family Guy is better than South Park is nothing short of wrong.
It's getting closer . I liked SP more than FG a couple of years back, but SP just got too weird for me. So I started watching FG and they seemed to kick up the comedy a bit more and the show got even more random. I liked that and I've never looked back. I haven't watched SP for a while. And the recent SP episodes that I have seen have been boring to me. I'll take Family Guy any day of the week.

nice post, i agree with everything u said. South park provides an interesting story line each episode. I like the episodes where they actually make fun of Family Guy. I don't like all the "flashbacks" when they say, "This reminds me of the time when........." It gets old quick imo. I do like some parts of Family Guy but I like SP much better.
I could write a big 'ol synopsis of the various reasons of South Park's superiority over Family Guy, but I'd reckon davidmarver's eloquent presentation of the cold hard facts is more than enough. Or if I had tried to do so, I'd have just basically said the same thing, only not as well-worded and organized and such. Y'know.
