The Mora thread got me thinking so I looked at some of the playoff teams to get a comparison.
Since the Falcons QB is such a hot topic and the so called 'coach killer' I just wanted to point out how other teams deal with below average QB play. Just looking at a few of the playoff teams and how their QBs have faired in some games this year!
By contrast the worst our QB has done in a game that we won was against Arizona.
Vick
13 of 22- 59%, 153yds, 0td, 1int, QB rating 61%. Now in this game Vick had 101 yds rushing which does not factor into the QB rating. Without those rushing yds do you think the outcome would have been a 'W'?
I am just trying to point out that playoff teams find ways to win even when their QB is having a bad game.
The Falcons do not win when the QB has a sub par game. This is a reflection on the fact that we rely on the QB to do more with less than other playoff teams!
The QB is just one player on the team. Granted he is the most important player but still every team relys on other players to contribute to the overall success of the team. Until we stop depending on the QB to win every game we will never be successful.
I didn't even bother to look at Grossman's stats but how many games have the Bears won when he stunk up the joint? Good teams overcome bad play from individual players, our team does not. Heck the Ravens won a SB with Dilfer and I know not even the haters can argue that Vick is worse than Dilfer.
Bottom line: The Falcons are not a very good and they rely on the QB to win games when it should be a whole team effort!
I just wanna say, theres always exceptions, you can't go through and find games were the QB wasn't so hott yet they still won, because that will always happen, thats why teams are in the playoffs, they are well rounded.

For the most part...Colts...ehhh.....
That will happen with good 'teams' but not with the Falcons! If Vick has a bad game they lose. That means the team is depending on Vick to win the game for them every week and no good team relys on one player to win every week!
The Falcons are not a good team, it is not because of Vick that they are not a good team!

You're right. Injuries murdered their defense down the stretch. John Abraham missed half the season, Kerney went on IR after 9 games, and they had no depth whatsoever at DE to generate a pass rush otherwise. Ed Hartwell missed half the season, and they had sever issues at PK due to Keonen flopping early as an all-purpose kicker.
However, Vick's does limit that offense in that they can't generate much of a passing threat. When the QB is notoriously inaccurate and impatient (he had 2 weeks in there where he looked like Vick ESPN has been touting since draft day, but then went back to being his usual self) defenses don't need to respect the pass nearly as much. Vick forces his team to rely on the running game (including his legs) and that does hurt, but it is most certainly only one of many reasons they missed the playoffs.
I agree the QB is not the whole team here is Dilfer when he was with the Ravens (Prob worst QB to win a SB)
59.3 Comp % 12 Td 11 INT 76.6 Rating, but they still won games b/c he did not lose the game for them. i think a lot of Vicks mistakes lead to points by the other team.
Vick has 4 complete years as a starter so if I only compared him to other 4 year starters the numbers would be in Vicks favor!
LT:
12,202 Total yards 117 TDs
whats your point?
You may ask what my point is.
You can throw out total yads and TDs all you want for any player, Compare him in QB stats to other QBs and he is not a good QB. Athlete, yes he is amazing, but he is not a QB. WR or RB yes
