Mort just reported that Saban did meet with Huiezenga and got the owners blessing to leave.

Good riddance. Wayne better get a good coach in there. No college coach, no retread NFL coach who just got fired. Bring in a new young dynamic assistant or a guy like Cowher.

Looks like he'll bring that 91-42-1 record to Alabama now. The guy is the greatest coach in the history of coaches, apparently. Why else would you throw that money at him? The guy has a .679 winning percentage in college football. What's the big deal here?

He quits on your team every couple years. Insert MSU, insert LSU, insert Dolphins. Coming soon to an abandonment near you, will be Alabama.

Not to mention the fact that he emphatically lied his tail off all December about the Alabama position, and look where he is now. Classier yet, is he made the owner come to his house to tell him before bailing out of Miami. He lied to the fans in Miami, the brass, all of them. He's done it a number of times before as well.

Nice.

Exactly. So why, with this kind of history and a decent-to-mediocre resume, is this guy getting all this hype? I've never understood the mystique around him. He seems like a guy in a couple of decent situations who has never really done all that much. He one a National Title. That's good. Once, with the stars aligned in a pretty weird year, he won it all.

Anyone can have a lucky year. Is that really worth 40 million dollars?

Maybe being associated with the Belichick coaching tree helps him get all these high paying jobs.

Anyways, kinda sucks for Dolphins fans that he jumped ship after only 2 years, but it's probably for the best. At least he didn't leave the Dolphins in disarray, like Larry Brown in basketball seems to do.

Some more information:

Again, according to the radio station, this all started back in November. Saban went to the owner and said he wasnt fit for the pro game.

Also, at the press conference, the owner asked the media for suggestions on the new coach. :-b Imagine having a suggestion box at these press conferences.
