that is what i was going to say...so easy to second guess, and the fact is who knows if jeff garcia would have been mentally ready to try another 4th down after getting absolutley hammered on the last throw

This might be true to the casual fan, but I wouldn't have second guessed him going for it. I was sitting there think, "I wonder what play they're going to run to pick up that kind of yardage" and when I saw the the punter out, I thought " :-? "

I understood the risks on both sides, but I thought going for it was the best idea. And I would NOT have second guessed him going for it.

I'm not going to cry about the loss. Saints are a better team than the Eagles, and they outplayed us Saturday, and that's that. Stupid call at the end of the game. The fact that the Eagles D couldn't stop Mcallister the whole night made it even more of a bonehead move.

By the way, thanks for the PM bagobonez. :-b

I dunno..You want to be proactive and put yourself in a position to score 3 points and tie the game, not "hope like hell" our defense can stop them so we can get the ball back. You want to make things happen. You need to score, and you can only do that on offence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they don't make the 4th down conversion, at least you can hang your head up and say "we went for it". We were aggressive and tried.

I just think that call was crazy.

Just a note to eaglesrule: On the 4th down false start play, the officials tried to stop it pre-snap but couldn't due to the noise in the SuperDome.

And I can definitely say taht they should've goine for the first down. Anyone who's read or heard of ZEUS would probably agree with me...

I think Reid is a solid x's and o's coach, but when it comes to game management he's terrible. How many games over the last four or five years has he mismanaged the clock, made questionable decisions, etc.?

New Orleans' needs one first down to end the game and they've put up 200 yards rushing on you. With the clock ticking down in the 4th quarter, I want my fate in my hands so I go for it.

ahhh good point. I don't care either way, the eagles had their chances, and saints won. And I think overall it was called fairly--and I had some doubts about that. I still think the false start was tickytack and questionable, but they could have investigated the final play of the first half too.
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.

Then when they didn't win the Super Bowl in any of those years some people blame the coach instead of blaming the players or giving the other team credit. The Eagles lost to the better team. End of story.

You are sooo wrong you don't even know.

Andy Reid is a good coach, but he makes alot of poor decision. Both gameday AND personel.

He constantly makes poor decisions with play calling, I think he is the only coach in the NFL that considers 3rd & 1 a passing down.

That stems from his stubborness in carrying a BIG RB on his squad to get those tough yards on 3rd or 4th & short.

He has mismanaged the clock by wasting time outs and such over and over and over.

Just look at the Super Bowl when they didn't go into the hurry up when the entire nation was saying what the F is he doing?

Then he Punts the ball away when his team hasn't stopped the Saints running game all night.

1 first down for the Saints clinches the game, the Eagles had ONE , 3 & out ,the entire game. It was the previous series, ans it was the only series they passed 3 staright downs.

Andy Reid- Good Coach
Andy Reid - Stubborn Man who doesn't learn from past mistakes.

WRONG !!!!!!

1 first down for the Saints ends the game regardless

If he goes for it and they don't get it the Saints get the ball.
IF they stop them in 3 down and use their 2 Time Outs.
The Saints would have the ball at the edge of FG range.

Would Payton risk the field position and go for the FG?
Probably not

Or would you pooch punt and force Philly to try to go 50-60 yards with ZERO Time Outs and 50 seconds remaining?

Probably pooch Punt

So, there is NOTHING to be lost by going for it on 4th & 15.
Either way the Eagles could not give up a first down.
