The Kevin Federline Obsession

Postby knapplc » Wed Jan 17, 2007 2:23 pm

The media has an obsession with Kevin Federline. I kid you not.

Can someone explain this to me? Why is this guy news? Does anyone, anywhere think that Kevin Federline is going to ever, ever become anyone or anything that mandates the attention of the masses?

Don’t believe me? Here’s what’s going on, just today…

Headline on Yahoo’s front page (they only show six headlines at a time):
Kevin Federline to star in Super Bowl commercial

Headline on CNNSI’s front page (they only show six at a time, too):

Move over, Fabio: K-Fed gets Super Bowl ad

But wait, there’s more. The Washington Post picked this story up:

Federline Signed to Do Super Bowl Ad

So did the San Francisco Chronicle:

Federline Signed to Do Super Bowl Ad

And the list goes on.

But that begs the question – Why? Who cares about this guy? And why in the name of Sweet Mary Jane does CNNSI put this nonsense in their Sports section? This isn’t sports, it’s “entertainment,” and I use that word very, very loosely.

Why? Why is this guy in my life? Why do I even know who he is? He married some two-bit pop star, and suddenly I have to know every move his career makes? Really?

Enough! Enough with the Federline madness!!1!!

There are a lot of these so called "celebrities" that are in a bunch of gossip mags for no apparent reason. Paris Hilton leads the bunch, and I really wish that they'd all just go away.

To be fair, Britney isn't exactly two bit. I may not like her, and she may have turned into a bit of a joke, mainly because of K-Fed, but she was one of the biggest pop stars in the world before that mistake happened. You know, the one where she said "I do".

I think the K-Fed thing is just this; we love to laugh at celebrities. Especially one as pathetic and low as this. Everything he says and does is a joke, and it makes us feel better about ourselves to laugh at him.
