Nice avatar. I think Marty Schottenheimer is a bad coaching choice for any franchise looking to win in January, because he's a proven loser after New Year's Day. As evidenced by his two very bad decisions against the Patriots--and his disastrously-conservative play-calling in past failed years--he doesn't have the chutzpah to hack his way through the post-season. Marty's Chargers played well on offense and defense, but lost because of undisciplined mistakes and poor crunch-time decisions. Any coach who turns in that sort of performance--especially with the Chargers' talent--shouldn't be wearing the same NFL-sponsored polo next season.
Thanks to madaslives911 for this graphic from his site... MOVE THOSE CHAINS, MOVE THOSE CHAINS, MOVE!
He still had the Chargers go 14-2 during the season. If I had a coach who had my team go 14-2 in the regular season, than lose during the playoffs, I would still keep him. If you can't win regular season games, how can are you going to get to the playoffs?
