According to some league commish's, what Auction type is the best. Live or a slow one in which raising money could be done periodically for a long time?

Totally depends Indy. I've only done a few auctions and they were held here at the cafe. They were slow since we couldn't get all the owners together at the same time for a fast one. If you are able to get everyone together at the same time and for a long period of time then a fast one would work. Either way is fine and neither is better than the other, IMO. It just depends on if you can get everyone together or not.

Thanks for the opinion, I am in one league and last year we couldn't get the long one started, because of time. But we could not get everyone together for one time period either. Still I think we could do either since both should be fun.

I have never been in an auction, but I would rather have a slow one to give you time to kind of evaluate players values for longer.

Like Flots said, it really depends on your situation. I would think a live auction would be more challenging, in that emotions may run high causing "bidding wars" to erupt.

Same thing, I have only done the cafe slow auctions, but from everything I have heard a live auction is much better. If you know the people and are able to get together I would say go for it.

Never done a slow auction but last year I ran a league that did an online live auction and man was it intense. Stuff goes way faster from what I can tell so your heat is always pounding and you gotta make split-second decisions. Most fun draft I've ever done. I'll probably run another auction league next year now.

i personally perfer fast ones, so that teams dong have like 5 outstanding bids at once

I've only done one, which was live, and I didn't like it because it gave me the opportunity to overbid on players.

I guess I'd prefer to have time to consider if I want to bid more or not.

But having time takes the fun outta auctions. It's all about making split second decisions.
