Former Ohio State Buckeye quarterback Art Schlichter, 50, is under investigation for running an alleged ticket scheme victimizing dozens of investors for over one million dollars to presumably fund his gambling addiction. Schlichter and Anita Barney, wife of Wendy’s co-founder Robert Barney, would promise investors exclusive sporting event tickets, to include this Sunday’s Super Bowl, but after multiple payments, tickets were never delivered.

It’s still uncertain about Barney’s knowledge of the scam as she stated she was conned by Schlichter as well. The bilked investors are also going after Barney because she was passing bad checks to cover outstanding debts.

Schlichter is no stranger to the criminal justice system and has sat behind bars in over 40 different prisons for fraud and forgery convictions stemming from gambling problems. A former All-American and a once promising NFL QB is again the subject of another criminal investigation.

Addiction is an ugly beast. If giving up your freedom and an NFL career can't kick your habit, you have some serious issues.

Agreed. Some people never learn. They always want the easy way out even if it is unethical. You got to think of the consequenses before jumping or you might find glass at the bottom that cuts you. Very Sad

More time for ex-Colt QB Art Schlichter

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Art Schlichter is facing additional time behind bars as he prepares to plead guilty to federal fraud charges.

An amended plea agreement filed in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday calls for him to serve nearly two more years for violating his probation from a conviction in Indiana.

Marion Superior Court Judge Grant Hawkins in Indianapolis had refused to cancel Schlichter's arrest warrant in Indiana until the extra time was added.

The 51-year-old Schlichter has said he'll plead guilty to federal charges of bank and wire fraud and filing a false tax return linked to a million-dollar sports ticket scheme. That deal originally called for eight years in prison, to run at the same time as a 10-year state prison sentence on related charges
