Yeah both his kids are in some serious trouble with guns and drugs. Some speculation that he might have to step down as coach so he can take care of his family.

I feel bad for the big guy. His kids aren't little, they are certainly old enough to know better.

I came in here to post this, it is sad, but that could possibly set the Eagles way back. Who will take care of the scouting?

It's unfortunate to see someone's children go through something like this, but he's certainly doing the right thing by taking some time away from the game for family's sake. Hope things work out for the Reid family.

All NFL teams have an entire department dedicated to scouting. The GM usually has final say along with the head coaches input in most cases.

reid is in a different spot, as he is basically the GM too (executive VP of football operations). But the Eagles have a very solid machine in place, and Tom Heckert and the scouting department can handle this. I mean its not like they have to send a carrier pidgeon to get his input. Good thing for the Eagles is that they take care most of the pressing work (signing young talent) the season before, and always have a solid cap situation in place (with a plan).

It's certainly not what I would call "good," but its not the end of the world either.

I doubt it will set them WAY back considering the tear they went on, and they don't have many of their own players to resign (stallworth, Garcia, Juquas Thomas) and I'm sure they have their ideas on how hard they will go. according to Joe Banner (eagles president), the FA plan was pretty much established anyway.

I think it is going to be somewhat of a problem come draft time, but we shall see. His main role, from what I understand isn't picking the players per se, but in interviewing them--seeing if they will fit in with the philsoophies etc.
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.
