USC Coach Pete Carroll today declined to address speculation that he was a candidate to become coach of the San Diego Chargers.
"I've got nothing for you," Carroll said through a school spokesman. "I'm not talking about it."
Later, as he ran from Heritage Hall to play in a midday basketball game, Carroll declined to comment when asked if he or his agent had spoken to Chargers officials.
Carroll interviewed with the Miami Dolphins in January and has been linked to several NFL openings during his tenure at USC.
He has consistently maintained that he would stay at USC, which signed another top three recruiting class last week.

USC compliance officials are still investigating whether a violation occurred in the recruitment of running back Joe McKnight, a school spokesman said.
NCAA rules forbid former players from having telephone communications with recruits regarding recruiting.
McKnight said last week that Carroll set up a conference call with Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush. McKnight's high school coach also said McKnight told him that he heard Bush on a speakerphone.
Carroll said no such phone call ever took place and McKnight, through his coach, later said he misspoke and said he never talked to Bush or heard him on a speakerphone.
Bush's attorney said Bush has had no contact with any USC recruits or with the Trojans' recruiting effort.

A source said that former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain was scheduled to visit USC Wednesday.
Mustain is seeking a school to transfer to. Former Razorbacks receiver Damian Williams, who also played in high school with Mustain, transferred to USC in January.
