Madden 07 X-Box quick question

When you are in the Player Management area and you want to release a player, how do you do that? It only gives me the options of either re-signing him or putting the franchise tag on him. This is in franchise mode by the way. Is there some setting that I need to turn off?

If it's in the off-season, just go to Roster (I think it's called) and go to Release Player.

Somewhere in the menu there should a Player Management tab. Go to that, choose the player and select them. Then there should be options such as Re-sign, Franchise Tag, Trade and Release.
