Colts Franchise Freeny

The Colts have placed the franchise tag on Dwight Freeney.

The expected move should keep Freeney a Colt for at least one more season. Since the team is snug to the salary cap, they should aggresively try to sign Freeney long-term to help lower his 2007 cap number. Coming off a down year, Freeney may be easier to sign. If he signs the one-year tender, it will be for $8.644 million. Feb. 19 - 5:22 pm et

They couldn't let him go. I think when they let Edge go it was a sign that Dungy wanted to keep around his D guys and spread the wealth

Freeny and Sanders are two guys they can not afford to lose on that defense

There is no way they could have let him go.

He just missed out on a HUGE payday by them doing this though

If I was an NFL team owner, I would give up those 2 first rounders and throw ridiculous money at Freeney to see if he would leave. He is def. worth it and could put a team over the top.

Except they just tagged Grant...that would be a TON of $$$ devoted to DEs
