That would be a great trade for Detroit. I really don't understand why the Jet's would even entertain that sort of trade unless they were looking at either Quinn or Russell as can't miss franchise QBs and/or Vilma is an under the radar cancer.

There trying to trade Vilma because he doesn't fit into there 3-4 defensive scheme.

Then adapt the scheme. There is all of 1 LB I'd rather have on my team than Vilma if I were a coach. So far he's looking like this generation of football players' Ray Lewis.
And also, are there any reports actually saying he doesn't fit the scheme, that he's not picking it up, or are people just looking at the raw stats and not factoring in that 3-4 ILBs by nature make less tackles than 4-3 MLBs?
Giving up a guy as elite as Vilma for any draft pick, any year, is a bad move. I'll take the proven incredibly young elite player any day over a guy who hasn't proven squat.

that's a rediculous statement. Yes, he's good. But as of right now, I see no reason why Champ Bailey will be any worse. Plus it's two years. A lot of things can go right or wrong in two years. Still, not a good move in my opinion.
Last year when he was being used in a system that actually played to his strengths he was the best LB in football, as a sophmore player. Vilma is going to have a Ray Lewis-like impact if the Jets or someone else put him back in the 4-3.

The question that I wonder is, if Brady Quinn was drafted #2 by the Jets, would he be a #2 Qb? I mean, Pennington has been fragile to say the least. They could very easily put Quinn in and have him learn behind Pennington for a few years if Pennington can stay healthy and then put Quinn in as starter, similar to what the Bengals did with Palmer.

That would depend heavily on how the Jets do next season. If Pennington stays healthy and the Jets can stay in the playoff hunt, then Quinn could easily sit on the bench for a year and soak everything in. But if the Jets crash early and struggle each week, it could turn out like Denver's Plummer and Cutler last year. Worst case scenario, it turns out like Tennessee's Kerry Collins and Vince Young.

The Jets aren't drafting Brady Quinn if they move up to #2. They just drafted Kellen Clemens (Oregon) in the second round last year and they really like him. He's their future QB.

Rumor alert: Shaun Ellis, 25th pick and a 3rd rounder to Detroit for the #2 pick
Jets would draft Calvin Johnson if they moved up to the #2 pick.
That would be nasty. I would love that trade for the Jets. I think they would definately take CJ to get that one player who they need to take over the game when needed. I also think that if Oakland passed up on Russell was passed up, the Jets would draft him. Only reason I say this is because last year, everyone thought Houston would take Bush, but they took Mario.
