That's a good way of putting it. It's their right to name their daughter what they want, within reason, but it's a pretty selfish thing to do.
"It suits her," Karolina Tomaro, 27, said Tuesday of the name. "She's decisive and she knows what she wants."
hahahahahaha
But seriously, they can name the kid whatever they want. If they want her to be laughed at in school all her life well... that's their decision I guess.
On second thought, maybe denying them the name isnt such a bad thing after all.
It's important to remember that we're talking about Sweden, not America. They don't have the same freedoms we have, and they don't have the same form of government we do. Apparently it's OK for a government body to tell their citizens what they can and can't name their children. I have no idea how their legal system works, and I have no idea what the outcome of the legal appeal is likely to be, but it's pretty clear that somehow, some way, that government agency has the ability to take that step (at least at first).

I don't think it's a good idea to let anything slide since there are quite a few names out there that can be given to children which could be interpreted as abusive.

"Come here Moron".
"Sir, I really don't think you should call your daughter a moron"
"Why the h**l not? It's her name."
"Moron! Go find Loser and Accident and tell 'em that supper's ready!"
