Is my iPod Dead?

After the long thread about getting songs off my iPod, I think the ephpod program killed my iPod Once my iPod was disconnected from my computer, when I turned it on, the Apple logo came onto the screen. It makes these weird buzzing and humming sounds and then the screen turns black with the Apple logo appearing backwards on the top right hand side of the screen. Theres more , after those two screens, it goes to a half empty battery screen that has a "!" on it. Long story short, I get all kinds of error screens but no music screens. Any thoughts? I've tried resetting it but it didn't work or I didn't do it right. Is it dead?

Wow, that program really screwed up your ipod. If your ipod, was dead, it wouldn't be working at all though. I think your best bet is to get it repaired or just get a new ipod. That really sucks though.

If you got a warantee, take it to where you bought it and ask them what's wrong. They'll either repair it for free or (most likely) give you a new iPod.

I don't have a warranty and its about 2-3 years old now.

When my ipod froze up twice.. I just let it run out of batteries and charged it again and it was fixed.. On the manual it says something like hold the play button for 10 seconds something but that's on my ipod (1 year old). Don't know what to do.. I would rather call apple than here though (no offense to anyone here )

I might have fixed it. I was able to restore the software on the iPod and now my computer recognizes it and iTunes shows all of the songs on my iPod But, the iPod is stuck in "Disk Mode."

After about the 100th time I reset it, it worked. Back to normal

worst case scenario, call apple and lots of time they will give you a refurbished one and you pay the shipping. beware of the outsourced phone customer service overseas... plan at least 40 minutes on the phone, i know from experience.

just go to the "genius bar" at your local apple store... they will either fix it on site or give you a new ipod... that's what my 2 friends did... (assuming it's still under warranty)

Thanks guys but after messing around with it I fixed it by restoring the software
