Trade Deadline

I've got 4 new owners this season that have been in another league together for a few years now. Every year, the trade activity in this other league is quite high and some trades seemed very questionable as far as being fair trades. ANyway, I've never had a trade deadline in my league because trades are pretty much nonexistant (1 trade in 4 years), but I'm thinking that it might be wise to include a deadline this year to reduce the chance of these guy colluding. My playoffs start week 14, when is a good week to have a trade deadline so that one owner can't assist another owner going into the playoffs? thanks

I think the most common ones I've seen have been around week 12 as the trade deadline. So the start of games for week 12 would mark the end of any trades at all in the league which would work I think.

If you are using Yahoo, they have a deadline type system already in place, and I think most other providers do the same. So wherever you host your league, there should be a system in place already as most leagues do have a trade deadline.

i think it's silly to have a trade deadline in a keeper league... but if it's a redraft then you are looking at week 11/week 12... that's what most leagues do...

I like to close trades for the playoffs, and in a non-redraft league, open trades back up after the Super Bowl.

We play a 13 week schedule and we stop all trades after week 10.

In a 3 keeper league we allow in season trades from draft day to week 10. Playoffs start week 14.

Off season trades are allowed from the end of the Superbowl until the week prior to the draft.

What we have settled on for trade deadline is:

League Ends in NFL Week 13 --> Trade Deadline 1 week before Thanksgiving, Thursday before the games

League Ends in NFL Week 14 --> Trade Deadline is the week of Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Day

League Ends in NFL Week 15 --> Trade Deadline 1 week after Thanksgiving, on Thursday

We have always had our trade deadline the day before Week 13 begins, so if there's a Saturday game, it ends the Friday before.

I agree with what everyone else has said. We usually have it around week 12 or 13. Last year I had all my leagues on yahoo and we used the yahoo default trade deadline in all of them.

I've always had my trade deadlines 3 wks before the playoffs start. So, with 14 regular season games, the deadline would be the start of week 11 games. If the league is competitive, then most everyone should still have a shot at the playoffs at this point. If a team has a shot at making the playoffs, they are less likely to trade their good players to help another team.
