i thought it was ok for the most part. seemed like every time they got something going during the movie action wise it would jut off into another heart felt beat you over the head moment. the absolute best part was bruce campbell though (though when isn't he the best part of anything he is in?).

i also didn't care for the abuse of the gwen stacy character. considering that when peter dated her she was his first girlfriend and he really loved her and it was a pivotal moment in the comics when she was thrown off the birdge by the goblin to trivialize her involvement to being used to get mary jane was kinda lame and annoying.

Emo pete kind of reminded me of when Superman went bad in Superman 3 when he was around the red kryptonite. I thought it was comical but over the top cheesy.

The action scenes were fantastic though and black spider-man was killer. I kind of liked spider-man with an edgy attitude. If you are going to bring in Venom...where is Carnage? But the Venom character was too brief and very forced.

2 things that didn't work

1. Topher Grace will always be Eric Foreman. He is unfortunately type cast as that forever and ever. A guy stereotyped as a little puny dork should not play Eddie Brock.

2. Thomas Haden Church will forever be Lowell from Wings. Sorry that's all I can see him as. Not to mention his acting was the worst I've ever seen from him in this movie.

the acting was pathetic all around. venom is supposed to be awesome. he had like 2 minutes of coolness. that's almost as bad as killing darth maul in the first star wars. i didn't think topher grace was that bad. pretty much the lone bright spot as far as acting went, i thought. but i was really drunk.
