(CNN) -- He's only 10 months old, but an Illinois baby has his own firearm owner's identification card from the state of Illinois.
Howard David Ludwig, also known as "Bubba," received the card after his grandpa decided to get an heirloom for the baby.
His grandfather picked out a shotgun for Bubba, so his father, Howard Ludwig, logged onto the Illinois State Police website and printed out an application.
Police sent the card back with a picture of the toothless, grinning baby on it.
Illinois State Police say there's nothing about age restrictions in the rules.
Applicants under age 21 simply must have a guardian's signature.

They've been showing it on CNN all day so I had to find a hard copy to share it! (For some reason I couldn't find it on CNN's site though). Some of the other stories I ran today were also from CNN.

Might want to start with a BB gun, but whatever. It's pretty funny, but if they practice responsibility I have no problem with it. Obviously the kid shouldn't even touch it for another 10 or so years, but as an heirloom I think it's great. The article doesn't specify what gauge.

Yeah, I was afraid this was going to be something like the baby was caught with a gun. Thankfully, it was a humorous/good story and not a sick/bad story.
