The News
Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis found a forum to air his grievances again on Tuesday. The long-time Cowboy wants a contract extension. Until such time, he'll continue to feel underpaid and disrespected. "It's been a slap in the face when you think about it," Ellis told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "A contract extension says you are our guy and we want you here." Ellis will earn a guaranteed $2.5 million in 2007 and is signed through 2009.
Our View
Many factors go into Ellis' feelings, starting with his move from defensive end to linebacker last year and the fact that the 10-year veteran will probably earn less than Bradie James, Akin Ayodele, DeMarcus Ware, and Anthony Spencer in 2007. And those are just the Cowboys other linebackers. Anyway, Ellis is still working his way back from a torn Achilles tendon, and it remains to be seen if he will have much IDP value.
