Denzel Washington in Training Day and John Q. Just incredible acting skills in both movies.

Edward Norton in American History X and The Score. No offense to anyone who's mentally retarded, but Edward Norton does an excellent job pretending to be retarded.

Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade.

Charlize Theron in Monster.

I have a million more but it's late and my brain hurts.

I've been a big fan of the Dude from the Big Lebowski lately.

That, or uh, his Dudeness, or uh Duder, or uh El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Ohh, tough. Well, Gibbs took mine.

The Dude- from, of course, The Big Lebowski. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, and the Dude has been a constant source of inspiration.

Honorable mentions: Borat Sagdiyev (Borat), Randall Graves (Clerks movies), Richie Tenenbaums (The Royal Tenenbaums)

It's a crying shame that none of you mentioned the most bad-ass character in the history of movies.

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club

"It's only after you've lost everything that you are free to do anything"

"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. "

"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your f**king khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

"The things you own end up owning you."

"I want you to hit me as hard as you can"

...and that gentlemen, is the answer to the thread.
