As far as the previous trading of draft picks goes, I don't see how that matters if the exact value of the picks wasn't known until now....If I'm reading them right (and please correct me if I'm not), trades were "Player X for Player Y and this teams #1 pick next year", etc....So it wasn't known at the time if that #1 pick would be pick 1.01 or pick 1.10 or anywhere inbetween....Sorry Swipe, I just don't see the case there
I'll be fine with whatever order is decided upon, but I just really believe that the standard style benefits the league by giving the best chance at parity and prevents stagnance....Go and check out the classifieds for "Dynasty owners needed" and check out those sorry teams looking for owners....Non-parity is the #1 killer for dynasty leagues...A team isn't going to drop out if they're loaded, but if they see they're fighting a losing battle, bowing out may be a more tempting option...
Think about it: The Raiders (a low talent team) get pick 1.01 and 2.32 and the Patriots (a high talent team) get 1.32 and 2.01...How long is it going to take before the teams balance out talent-wise, if ever, at that rate barring free agency?
I'd really like to hear the commishes weigh in on this...Like I said, if the serpentine style was previously established and agreed upon, then I will shut my trap and go with it, but as it is, I think it's at least worthy of discussion....Just trying to look out for the benefit of the league fellas
