Smith played not 2 games but 3 against BCS conference competition, where he averaged 140.3 ypg. That's better than close to half the starting RBs in BCS conferences if you take their 3 BEST games and average them out. Oh, and he's running behind a CUSA offensive line not a BCS conference type offensive line. Oh and did I mention his rushing totals for the season, 2nd best so far and the opportunity to be #1.
If Florida had even come close to giving any RB a decent amount of Red Zone touches, Tebow wouldn't have 20 rushing TDs. Plain and simple. If anybody deserves the Heisman at Florida it's Urban Meyer for fooling the nation, or simply outcoaching them. He fooled the NFL into believing Alex Smith was a #1 pick QB. He outcoached the nation by winning a NC with a below average QB. So congrats to Meyer for being a genius and congrats to Tebow for an award he didn't deserve.
You forgot to explain the part about how Kevin Smith didn't have inflated stats against bad opponents and didn't play on a team with 3 losses.
Yeah, it was 3 BCS teams (didn't see NC State). Still, he only played 3 of them, and he sucked against 1. Tebow played 9, and he sucked against zero.
You can talk all you want about would've/could've had fewer rushing TDs if they had a better RB, but even if they did it would be only to protect Tebow because he's so valuable as the guy was a monster inside the 5, and no RB is better. It's like you're penalizing him for being so strong that no one can stop him even when they know exactly what's coming. He didn't just dance in through wide open holes, he was carrying or pushing guys into the endzone all year. Shaun Alexander won NFL MVP with 15+ TDs of under 3 yards and didn't have world-class passing numbers to go alongside that like Tebow does either.
Besides all the rushing numbers, did you realize that Tim Tebow has the second highest passer rating of any heisman winner ever? Probably not, because it doesn't sound like you've even seen him play and seem to have forgotten that he throws the ball too.
