2007 Compiled Positional Rankings (Updated 8/17, IDP Added)

Postby ironman » Tue May 22, 2007 4:08 pm

UPDATE *8-17-07* - I've finally published updates to the lists as well as added IDP rankings. To view the most current version of the rankings go here.

Hey folks. I've done this a couple years now, but I thought I'd toss out an early rough draft of my compiled positional rankings. Later this summer I will post them on my site, but for now I thought I'd just toss them up here and let you take a gander.

Keep in mind that it's early. Real early. So things may not look the greatest just yet.

Looks pretty good, although I think I'd drop Travis Henry a few and move up Maroney and Ronnie Brown.

First time through, this is looking pretty good. QBs will probably need the most tweaking. You have Steve Smith as the #1 WR but Delhomme isn't a starter in a 12-team league? Is that because of Carr's presence? Whoever gets the nod should be a starter in a 12-team.

A lot of folks on the Cafe have expressed concern over Eli Manning; confidence in him isn't high.

Kitna isn't a 12-team starter?

I know that everyone can't be a fantasy starter; we'll have to see how things look as we near the season.

On TE I'd consider moving Heap up. I can't see him doing worse than 3rd, with a shot at 2nd.

This is a great list to get discussion going, nice job.

Yeah, like I said this is a real rough early draft. Thing's will shape up later this summer.

In the past I would just do a straight up compiled ranking of various sources, but this past season for baseball I went in and added my own tweaks to it as well. I plan on doing that eventually for the football lists.

I like what I see here. I'm surprised to see the importance of Clinton Portis' downfall, but I guess people have lost a lot of confidence in him... ( I jumped on him 17th overall in my last dynasty draft!). And, to stay in the RBs, in find it hard to believe that Travis Henry sits at #10...

For the rest, I feel it's pretty good considering it's way too early to get clear tendecies.

Good work ironman ;-D

I think your list is fairly representative of how I would draft come draft day. A few notes from me though:

1. Vince Young. As a fantasy product, I just cannot see Vince out-doing Leinart, Romo, Eli, Kitna, and Rivers.

2. Randy Moss. I think he's a question mark right now, though I would certainly put Andre Johnson and Plaxico Burress as well as Hines Ward and Laveranues Coles ahead of him.

3. Tony Scheffler. Doesn't he seem a little low?

4. DEN DEF seems a bit low to me. I don't like it, but I agree with where Detroit is placed.

Overall, excellent job.

I love using your rankings for baseball and football. If I remember correct, you fell behind in your football rankings, or I just didn't understand the no updates later in the season ;) Anyways your list is usually always one of the first that I look at. Looking forward to seeing the tweaks in time for my drafts ;-D

I don't remember when I stopped updating the football rankings. I probably became too busy to get an update published. Not to mention I always had a hell of a time updating things on my old site. This year I'll probably post the lists on my blog like I did for baseball.

I'm kind of with you on Vince. We'll see how it plays out this preseason.

I just updated the list and Moss was taken down a few slots.

I'm guessing the addition of Daniel Graham in Denver is what's affecting Scheffler's ranking.
