I dont think the money "went" anywhere. It sounds like the owners agreed to all conditions, paid the original entry, but then never paid the additional fees that were racked up.

Since you guys kept the records. You all need top pony up the money and pay that winner of the league.

This is a correct summary of the situation. There is no missing money that went anywhere.

This is also how this is being resolved. All owners are are ponying up the $'s that should have been paid during the year and the winner is getting his $'s.

Practical question: If the shorted manager gets his league dues discounted, where does that money come from? The pot for '07-'08?

Yeah. It would have to come from the '07 pot. Our commish is wringing his hands over this as well, since it may unfarily impact the '07 winner to the benefit of the '06 winner.

Since all owners are back from last year, however, that negates some of the imbalance in this solution.

I would say that the other owners would understand, it wasn't the negligence of TEAM A or the commissioner, so if before the season starts, the commish tells everyone that the lost difference for the 2006 champ will be made up, meaning, the 2007 champ will make a little less, then nobody should have a problem...
Plus, who cares about the money, it's about the TITLE.....

You are dealing with MONEY, if you all agree to screw this guy over then you should just disband the league.

I agree - if we were talking $10 no big deal give him a case on draft day and buy his pizza and call it square. But several hundred, in what sounds like a pretty complex and intense league is a pretty big deal. I think the argument that it should have been caught during the year is pretty weak. It's tht money manager/commish's job to make sure that stuff is square, individual managers aren't going to audit the books every week. They TRUST that the commish will take of that.

That being said, if they had faith in the commish that he would do right by them then it's only fair that the commish come through and he gets what he is owed. It's not like he's asking for something extra, it's all money that these managers would have had to pay anyway, so to me it's a non-issue.

Pony up the cash.
Double check the numbers in 2007.
And move on.
