Thanks for the heads-up! I've caught a couple of these shows before. It's cool to see how this movie, which has become such a cultural phenomenon across the globe, almost wasn't made, and/or how it was nearly so drastically different than it ended up being.
So many things went right for this whole project, and any one of them that had changed could have spelled disaster.
Instead of Star Wars we could have ended up with another Flash Gordon.
But come on! The history channel is going to spend Memorial Day talking about a bunch of fictional people in the future.
I don't know why, but I would think it would be more appropriate to ohh I don't know Remember our Vets or pay tribute to those dying overseas right now???
Nope instead lets use it to talk about Chewbacca and friends.

I totally agree. I love me some Star Wars, but I don't get this at all.

The show looks pretty cool. And it's about how the history of movies has changed since the release of the original Star Wars, so it fits.
As for Memorial Day things, well, it's not on until 9 PM, so the rest of the day is likely spent memorializing those who the Day was set aside for. And, like Moon said, it's not like they don't spend a good deal of time saluting our vets the rest of the year.
"We couldn’t do diddley poo offensively, we couldn’t make a first down, we couldn’t run the ball, we didn’t try to run the ball, we couldn’t complete a pass - we sucked."

Right. Plus, they still make their money based on ratings like every other channel, so I'm all for them making more money so they can continue the greatest programming on cable.
Face it, some of the stuff I love to watch probably doesn't make them a dime, so they have to make their money somewhere.
