The 5 Second Rule

Do you follow the "5 Second Rule?" If you don't know what it is, if you drop food on the ground, it is okay to pick up and eat it if you pick it up within 5 seconds of it touching the floor. I was watching Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN and they talked about it and it got me thinking. I don't follow it, if food is on the floor, it goes in the trash and not in my mouth.

but i don't care how long it is on the floor be 5-10-15 seconds... depends on if I just cleaned the floor, if there is dog hair or dirt on the floor... if it's dirty i won't... but if it looks good i will...

I'm a bonafide Germaphobe and there are times I won't eat if off of my own floor. Usually, something fallen to the floor won't make it 5 secs b/c the dog usually has scrounged it first.

This is by far one of the nastiest things I've tasted. It doesn't really matter what type of floor it is dropped on. You could drop it in dog crap and it wouldn't hurt the taste... in fact, it might even make it taste a little better.

5 Seconds! Wow , around my neighborhood, we only have a 3 Second rule. And yes, obviously it depends on the location of said dropped food. I've eaten plenty of things off the ground outside. Within 3 Seconds . 5 Seconds in too long.
