06/02 Jets: Could Martin make a comeback?
Source: Fanball
Curtis Martin hasn't given up hope of returning to the NFL this coming season. "He's talking about trying to come back," one source told the New York Daily News.
Our View
Martin probably won't make a decision until training camp nears in late July. He's worn down the cartilage in his knee to the point that it's just bone on bone, so the odds of him playing again are slim, at best. The Jets brought in Thomas Jones during the offseason, so they are set to move on without Martin.
He should just hang it up so that he isn't in pain for the rest of his life, if it hasn't gotten to that point already. I know he loves the game, but no one is going to want to sign him, and it probably isn't worth it in the long run.
Kudos to Leber for the amazing sig and to Metroid for the userbar and making them both fit 2008 and 2009 Defunct Dynasty League Champion
why does he want to keep playing! become an announcer or coach if you want to be around the game.. retire... you're headed for the hall... hang'em up curtis...

I'm sure the knee will not let him make this comeback even though he is probably in great shape as usual. There a spot on the coaching staff for him whenever he wants it.
Anyways, he's had a good career. He had a good run piling up over 14,000 yards. Started every game for 6 years. 90 TDs. Not HOF, but a good career. Give up Curtis while you can still walk! He's 34, he's made a ton of money. What else is there to prove? That he can still play? That's just silly.
