Devin Hester - WR or RB?

just want a clear answer here coz i can't find any clear answers til now.
what is the official position of this guy? WR or RB?

I haven't heard anything official (chicagobears.com has him listed as "KR/PR" under position) but my guess would be WR because he'll work out much better there. He's not an RB by any stretch of the imagination.

I doubt he will be able to go between the tackles...I see him more as a WR....

Just speculation, but I imagine the only time the ball is handed to him is on an end around or something like that.

They are going to use him as a WR. They will send him on deep routes, some screens and probably some reverses.

yeah probably see a bit more 'steve smith' like quick screens and end arounds. I don't see his WR skills being polished enough to really be a deep threat. (Other than the pure speed to stretch out a defense)

Devin Hester can't contain his enthusiasm. His defensive teammates can't contain Hester.

The scene is all so reminiscent of last season, when opposing teams could only watch helplessly as Hester juked and sprinted past them for an NFL-record six kick returns for touchdowns during his Pro Bowl rookie campaign.


For an encore this season, Hester also is lining up from scrimmage as a wide receiver during the Bears' organized team activities in Lake Forest.

One of Hester's favorite plays is when he deceives the defense on fakes.

"That's the fun part about it," Hester said with a huge smile and a giggle after Wednesday's workout.

"I love running a fake reverse and seeing everybody run at you, and Cedric (Benson) is running with the ball on the other side of the field. That just cracks me up."

Said veteran Bears receiver Muhsin Muhammad: "So far the way he's adjusting is great. The guy is a natural athlete. He has good hands and his speed speaks for itself."

Overheard

Muhammad likes what Hester's speed will do for all the receivers.

"Back in my heyday, I used to be the deep threat on this team," said Muhammad, 34, who caught 60 passes last season. "That was before I started playing with Bernard Berrian and Mark Bradley and all of these other track dudes.

"We all just fit in different roles. … Devin is going to be kind of the gimmicky guy. I wish we had more than one ball on the field."
