LaVar Arrington Hurt in Motorcycle Crash

WASHINGTON - LaVar Arrington, a former member of the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon.
Prince George's County Fire tells WTOP that Arrington is in serious condition after the crash near Route 50 and the Capital Beltway.

Channel 9 reports Arrington was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center.

Arrington was drafted by the Redskins out of Penn State in 2000. He was cut by the New York Giants this year after suffering a season-ending foot injury.

This makes me really sad to see another player seriously injured...and in a motorcycle crash, no less. I suppose that this answers the "Is he coming back?" question. But setting football aside I hope he's ok.

State Police say the crash happened about 1 p.m. on a ramp from Route 50 onto Interstate 495 near Landover. Police say Arrington's 2007 Kawasaki traveled off the ramp and into some gravel, where he lost control and hit a guardrail.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

He remains in stable condition at Prince George's Hospital Center. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Arrington does have a license, but not a motorcycle license. He was given a ticket for driving the bike without a proper license and for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.

Do any of these athletes think it might not be a bad idea to have a license for the bikes? This is a terrible break for Lavar, likely to cost him this season (methinks) and limit the money he can ask for in any future contracts should he recover enough to play again.

nfl network just said he suffered a broken arm and two breaks in one of his legs. the arm is one thing but the leg could pretty much rule out his season if not career.

If his career wasn't over already, it is now. Too bad, he had the talent to be a force at LB, but injuries really held him back.
