Defensive end Simeon Rice was unable to take part in the team's minicamp practice on Tuesday. "He's going through his rehab and he's not fully able to participate at this point," head coach Jon Gruden told the St. Petersburg Times. "Other than that, he's a guy who will be ready for training camp and a guy we missed last season, obviously." Rice missed the last eight games of 2006 with a shoulder injury.

The Bucs hope Rice's shoulder surgery will help him bounce back from an embarrassingly awful 2006 campaign. His stock is down with IDP owners compared to this time last year.

Not too much of a big deal. He's going to be healthy when the time comes. People tend to overlook that 3 months from now, it'll be week 2 in the NFL. Mini camp reports give us our fix, but there's still a ways to go. Gruden tends to be cautious with vets and important players in TC/pre-season. See: Caddy, Galloway. Sim should be fine with another 3 months.

Maybe a homer question, but how does a injury-plagued half season qualify as "embarrassingly awful"? Rice was dinged up before he went on IR. That's far from embarrassing, that's just unfortunate.
