How much do you look at matchups while drafting?

Do you even look who they face in the final games of the season or do you soley go on your expected performance for the entire season.

I go by performance over the year and realize that anything can happen in the playoff weeks, you WR could be up against Chicago and blow up, who knows. But if you draft for the matchups at the end of the year, you still have to worry about the other 13/14 weeks of the season

If I'm torn between two guys I might see who they face at the end but other than that I go with the players I believe will have the best numbers.

I look at the end of the year matchups as part of my pre-draft research. But other than making a couple mental notes, it really doesn't come into play when the actual draft starts. It's kind of like getting in a fight on the street, you may have an initial fight plan, before the fight starts. But once the first punch is thrown, adrenaline takes over.

i'm just aware of divisions. knowing that the bengals or browns have to face both the steelers and the ravens D twice each year, for example, is certainly something that would weigh in on my decisions. or on the flip side, that the seahawks and rams play both arizona and the 49ers twice. i don't think i've ever looked at what week someone plays someone else while drafting. but it's not a bad practice. i just don't work that hard.

For me, I just draft who I want. I mean ANYTHING can happen throughout the season. I'm not going to pass on someone just because they play the Ravens twice a year or anything like that. If they're gonna perform, they'll perform.

Performance over the year. I also pay attention to the bye weeks.

Yeah like others have said I look into matchups a bit but once the draft starts I'll usually just take the best player on the board. Same thing with bye weeks, I may try to work around byes later in the draft but for the most part I just take the best player available...I'm lazy.

I think it comes more into play in the later rounds. You know you are going to play your studs no matter what in the playoffs. It's the depth guys I might look at matchups with because you're 4th WR could be a great fill in for the playoffs if he is up against the Texans or something.

Matchups should come into play when trying to make a trade in the middle of the season. As for drafting, you should not worry at all about matchups. Its about drafting the best players. Teams radically change from year to year so a "good matchup" today on paper, might not mean a good matchup when the teams actually play down the road. Only matchups that should be looked at are when your players are facing the bye weeks
