Do you all know what the status is in Jax. Earlier in camp I heard Greg Jones would take the goal line carries. However, I haven't seen him get any carries. If he doesn't vulture then Jones Drew value obviously goes up.
LenDale White started Thursday's exhibition finale over Chris Brown. He rushed 15 times for 58 yards and caught one pass for 19 yards in the win.
Brown (7-42, 2-10) played mostly with the second unit, when Vince Young left the game. Third-stringer Chris Henry (7-22, 2-22) surprisingly played despite a hamstring injury. With two preseason starts to one for Brown and Henry, White is the heavy favorite to start in Week 1. He also threw a vicious block that sprung Young for a score. Clinton Portis went through pre-game warmups Thursday night, but was declared inactive by the Redskins.
He ended up practicing roughly five times in camp and never took a preseason carry. The Washington Post's Jason LaCanfora goes so far as to predict Ladell Betts will get the majority of the touches early in the season. Portis remains a risky third-round pick if your draft is this weekend. Aug. 30 - 7:27 pm et Source: Washington Post
Undrafted rookie Selvin Young has reportedly moved past Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp on the Broncos' depth chart.
Young, a former committee member at the University of Texas, had an excellent preseason. The Denver Post put it well, "He pulled a Mike Bell." If Travis Henry were to get hurt, he'd likely split carries with Bell or Sapp. Young is worth grabbing in all formats. Like all Mike Shanahan decisions, this one is subject to change. Fason got buried by a host of bodies at his position and his upright style never appealed to coach Brad Childress. The former fourth-round pick did average 5.5 yards-per-carry on 18 carries last year, however, and has demonstrated that he can perform in short yardage. A number of teams could show interest. Gruden stated in his press conference that Earnest Graham has looked good and is going to push the starters for playing time. The Bucs ar expected to keep Caddy, Graham, Pittman, and Askew at RB/FB. Graham could get some goalline carries as he is a power back. He has always looked good in August, but now he will get the chance during the year.
Packers placed RB Noah Herron on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
This is a surprise because Herron's injury was not expected to cost him much time. The Packers picked up John Kuhn off waivers from the Steelers to replace him. Herron was serviceable third-down back and special teamer. His loss could mean more receiving opportunities for Brandon Jackson. Sep. 2 - 3:09 pm et
Wow. Dorsey was expected by most to backup Joseph Addai this season, but with Clifton Dawson also being cut, that job now belongs to CFL star Kenton Keith. Expect the Colts to make an addition off waivers. Sep. 1 - 7:40 pm et Source: colts.com
