Jaguars RB Alvin Pearman was traded to the Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick.

The Miami Herald believes the Dolphins will use a two man committee at running back this season regardless of who is named the starter.

The Herald makes it sound like a carry split between Jesse Chatman and Ronnie Brown is in order and quotes coach Cam Cameron: "You need two backs in this business. You'll see both those backs in a game." Cameron says this after barely using Michael Turner in San Diego last year. We still can't see the 'Fins giving Chatman more than 30 percent of the touches, but this makes Brown a shakier Week 1 play. Sep. 3 - 8:40 pm et

Falcons signed RB Artose Pinner and waived RB Jason Snelling.

Pinner averaged 4.4 yards-per-carry for Minnesota in 2006 and could make a case for short-yardage carries. He's not a major threat right now, but Pinner has fantasy potential behind a highly injury-prone starter and Jerious Norwood. Snelling's dismissal is a surprise after a strong training camp. Kevin Jones went through his first practice of the offseason Monday.

Jones ran with the scout team but made cuts on his surgically repaired foot and says he "felt good." He added that he doesn't feel much pain but anticipates soreness. The Lions consider Jones week-to-week at this stage. Sep. 3 - 7:10 pm et

RB Thomas Jones practiced Monday for the first time since injuring his right calf on August 12.

Coach Eric Mangini was predictably secretive when it comes to Jones' status for Week 1, but the New York Daily News suggests that "Jones looked like he will play in the opener" and Newsday was even more confident that he'll suit up.

The Rams will take a "wait-and-see approach" before determining a role for newly acquired running back Antonio Pittman.

He'll most likely be inactive for the first few games. The Rams were high on Pittman during the draft process but question his receiving and pass-blocking ability. He has a ways to go before pushing Brian Leonard for time.

Coach Herm Edwards is planning on limiting Larry Johnson even after he "gets his legs underneath him."

"He’s going to be on a little bit of a leash early... It’s tough on one guy and he did a yeoman’s job last year," Edwards said. "He’s not going to get the ball as much."
