How many TEs do you pick up in your draft?

Only time I want two TE's is if I spend two late round picks on them and hope one has a big season.

I've only ever drafted one. You can only play one, so you really only need one. And since it's such a hit-and-miss position I usually draft one in the latter third of my draft. I'd rather have my starting QB, RBs, WRs, DEF and at least one backup at RB and WR before ever picking up a TE.

one, but it depends on how the rest of the draft is shaping up if i grab a stud early or wait till the end

I usually grab two late-round guys with the idea of platooning them from week to week. But I also watch the WW closely for guys that might break out. The thing about drafting two guys in the late rounds is that you don't mind dropping one for the hot WW pickup. I hate missing out on good WW pickups because I am waiting for a RB or WR to break out.

Last year was the first year i didn't have Gates (luckily). I like the idea of grabbing a stud early becuase it adds more to your team. Having a top 3 TE is like playing with an extra WR. It was great to know Gates (and Shockey last year) would contribute as opposed to crossing your fingers and hoping for a cheap TD from a late round gamble.

Me too. I usually try to get a Shockey, Heap or Crumpler in the middle rounds, and if they are all snagged, I will wait a few rounds to pick a Cooley or Witten. I never go after the elite guys, unless they're there a lot longer than they should be.

I'll usually take a tight end in the 6th-8th round depending on the players available, and I'll take a sleeper tight end later on if there's one available. If there isn't, I'll just pick up a free agent the week of my starter's bye week.

That's what works for me as well.
