07/02 Patriots: Words come out of Belichick's mouth
Source: Fanball
Without revealing anything even remotely close to concrete, Bill Belichick addressed Laurence Maroney's recovery from shoulder surgery on Monday. When asked by radio hosts on Sports Radio WEEI about Maroney's status for training camp, he is quoted by the Boston Globe as replying, "We'll have to see how that comes along. I'm sure he'll be close. He's doing well. He's worked extremely hard this offseason. I'm sure he'll be ready to go. What the exact time will be, we'll wait and see how that comes along. But I'm sure he'll be ready to go."
Our View
Reading between the lines, we still have absolutely no idea what Maroney's status is. Nevertheless, the team's actions – namely, getting rid of Corey Dillon and opting to sign only career backup Sammy Morris as his replacement – continue to indicate that the team is not worried about Maroney's surgically-repaired shoulder. We are unlikely to learn much more until the players actually put pads on for training camp at the end of this month.
