The Redskins signed rookie tight end Tyler Ecker on Monday, the team's official web site reports. Terms were not disclosed. Ecker, who attended Michigan, was a seventh-round pick (216th overall) this past April.

Ecker is not expected to fill a major role in 2007. If anything, he'll earn a spot as the third tight end
