I had a guy try to pull that with me once. I called it in and the State Patrol pulled him over later down the road.

Lots of people have badges - even schmucks like me. Do NOT pull over just because someone shows you a badge, even if they have flashing lights on their car.

I think if you have a reasonable doubt the law will be lenient with you if you don't pull over until a squad car shows up.

I've heard of people calling 911 when an unmarked police car is behind them. The dispatcher will verify if that is a real cop so you can pull over.

I wouldn't just keep driving.

I've heard of this too. In fact, I've read that some places encourage people to call 911 if they have any suspicions over a car that is trying to pull them over.

In all seriousness, I'm glad that the real police were able to detain this man. For all we know, this man could have been committing robberies, rapes, murders, etc. Personally, I only pull over for squad cars. If an unmarked police car flips on it's lights and tries to get me to pull over, I call 911 to confirm the identity of the vehicle. If I do pull over, I do it during the day in a busy area with a lot of traffic. You can never be too careful.

yep pulling over people for no reason... sounds about right...

in fairness i work overnights, and minny allows pulling over people for seatbelt violations and random sobriety checks...

so they can pull you over for no reason and say... "oh just making sure you are sober" or "it looked like you didn't have your seatbelt on" followed by "oh well, i'll waddle back to my car now..."

i've been pulled over a few times in the middle of the night... note to cops... just cuz i'm driving around at 4 AM doesn't mean i've been drinking or am too lazy to wear a seatbelt... come on...

then again... i wonder how many times those random sobriety checks catch morons drinking and driving...
