then again... i wonder how many times those random sobriety checks catch morons drinking and driving...

Kind of answered your own question there. I don't like the idea of pulling someone over without a probable cause, but at 4 in the morning I would venture to think they've nabbed quite a few of these morons.

I had a guy try to pull that with me once. I called it in and the State Patrol pulled him over later down the road.

Lots of people have badges - even schmucks like me. Do NOT pull over just because someone shows you a badge, even if they have flashing lights on their car.

I think if you have a reasonable doubt the law will be lenient with you if you don't pull over until a squad car shows up.

In a lot of states you are not required to pull over for an unmarked vehicle... In those states the unmarked car will just follow you until the real squad car shows up...
