Masson, one hit wonder or every week starter?

Will Masson keep putting up big #'s, or will he slip back into shadows?would you play him over Moss or Toomer?

Mason is not a #1 fantasy reciever so I would never play him over Moss. He is basicaly a fine #2 reciever in 12 team leagues. He has been surprisingly consistent on yardage this year but that was just Houston he broke out on, not exactly Carolina who he plays this week. He only had one TD on the year before last week. If Toomer were playing a slightly worse D ( even banged up there average) I would suggest him, however more of a testament to Mcnair's good play I'll say go ahead and go with Mason again this week.

Blah, blah, blah, without looking at their schedules the rest of the year I will say there will probably be weeks where Toomer has the better matchup and you will want to start him later on.

Postby irishboy » Sat Oct 18, 2003 10:33 pm

if ur talking about derrick mason, he is an every week starter unless u have moss and harrison on the same team; with the way mcnair has been playing, u should start his number 1 wr mason with confidence

Mason will remain solid each week as a #2, but his success last week isn't even close to the #s he'll put up the rest of the year. You're gonna see catches and yards, but can he reach the zone consistently? We'll see...
QB (1) - Plummer, Leftwich
RB (2) - Alexander, Dunn, Larry Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Stephen Davis
WR (3) - Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Drew Bennett, Rod Smith, Jason Witten
K - Peterson
D - Carolina
(10 team league, pick #4)

Derrick mason is kinda under rated..
Mcnair will likely throw to him now.. but that might lead to him getting covered more, but in that case, they got calico and that other guy (forgot his name) over there that can catch and run.. they have a really nice WR corp over there..
I'd defintaly start him each week, unless he's playing someone hard core.

Peace.

The amount of fantasy points he put up will not occur again this season (obviously) but I also don't think he'll score a whole heck of a lot more. The Titans don't have a running game right now, and while that gives a lot of oppurtunities for McNair to pass the ball, it also puts a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Although he has stepped up and played well thus far, down the road teams may key in on the Titan's inability to run the football, and shutdown McNair and the passing game.
