Yep, my mom is the current president of Echo Dogs. It's an all-volunteer organization. There are a lot of heartbreaking stories but some very happy stories as well. Some of the dogs are too far gone, as in one that had been shot with a shotgun and the pellets left in it that didn't make it, but there are also stories like where she placed a rescued dog with a fire department, so it could have constant care and attention and live a long, happy life.
When I was born we had a shepherd named Angel. I learned to walk by clutching her fur and hanging on. She'd lay by my crib and wouldn't let anyone who wasn't family come near me. So, I've had a guard dog from day one, so to speak.
These are my pups, Molly (top left) and Lou (bottom right) both girls even though Lou isn't typically a girl's name. Molly is 1 1/2 and Lou will be 2 in September. Got them both from different families who were unable to keep them. They are both very much puppies, molly chewed up 3 rolls of toilet paper and a pair of my sandals just today Hard to be mad at them when they look at you with that face though

Lou is too is a girls name! My mom had an aunt named Lou and mom's name is Mary Lou - what are you implying?
Those two are cute pups, but chewing of the azzweepay is a definite no-no - not only does it make a big damn mess but if they do it at the wrong time you can be left in bad shape post-partem if you know what I mean

Mom stopped by again this morning... we have a nice arrangement where she gets up early to hit the farmers market on saturday morning and picks up produce for me. Brought her dogs with her again. There was a group of ducks in the pond just down the side yard and she wanted to feed them, so I went inside to grab a few slices of bread. When I was in the kitchen I heard a commotion and laughter... It would seem that the little bishon fris (sp?) is inquisitive and hasn't seen a pond before. It's a calm day so the surface was smooth, and he apparently went running down and tried to run out over the water. When he, in fact, sank, she said the look of surprised on his face was priceless
