Texans sign McCardell

Texans signed WR Keenan McCardell to a one-year, $850,000 contract.

A deal that's been heavily rumored for days. McCardell will be in the mix for slot duties right away, and may push Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter for the job opposite Andre Johnson. The 37-year-old obviously declined in 2006, scoring zero times after a nine-TD 2005, but still can catch and find openings in defenses. He's someone to watch, not draft in fantasy leagues.

He doesn't have the physical tools anymore but he has the brains and instincts to still do some damage if a team is desperate for a 3rd or 4th WR. Especially since a lot of the 3rd/4th CBs these days are inexperienced/younger guys that he can beat.
