Interesting, may mean he falls a little further than he should come draft day. This could be a good thing!

I would not draft Gore...I think it was amazing he made it through all of last year. This is an omen, and not a good one.

I would not draft him, either, especially in a league that penalizes for fumbles. With his dominant hand getting broken, that's a pretty bad injury that is going to nag him throughout the season.

This guy has tons of talent but just can't seem to stay healthy. Too bad. :-/

Update:

RB Gore to miss at least three exhibitions

John Crumpacker

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

Frank Gore's broken right hand, although not a big deal as far as injuries go, probably will keep the running back out of the 49ers' first three exhibition games.

"I'd like to see him at least in the last week," coach Mike Nolan said. "I don't want to downgrade the importance of the preseason. It's important. It's to get your timing down. You have to get the feel of things."

Gore broke a bone in the hand in a noncontact drill Monday morning. He will have a cast put on the hand this coming Monday to allow him to practice. He will not practice until then.

In his stead, the 49ers will take a long look at Maurice Hicks, Michael Robinson and rookie Thomas Clayton. The club will probably keep two of three once final cuts are made.

"We know a lot about Michael. We know a lot about Mo," Nolan said. "Thomas Clayton, we'll find out about him. Michael is still developing as a running back (after playing quarterback at Penn State). There's a lot to be gained by giving those guys work."

Gore did some light work in noncontract drills Tuesday morning and spent the afternoon sprinting up a berm on an 8- to 10-percent incline at the edge of the practice field. Nolan said the club will have some running backs in for tryouts today.

Briefly: Tuesday morning marked the third straight practice in pads, after which the 49ers will go in pads once a day. Nolan said he liked what he saw of the full-pads session. ... Robinson became dehydrated during practice and was taken to Stanford Hospital for intravenous fluids. He could return to practice today. ... A knee injury kept center Sean Estrada out of practice. ... Fullback Moran Norris cut his lip during practice, requiring a large bandage. ... Defensive end Bryant Young did not practice for the third day in a row as he rests his back following an epidural. He should return in a couple days, Nolan said. ... Tight end Delanie Walker got a chewing out from position coach Pete Hoener after throwing his helmet in frustration after a play. ... Trent Dilfer uncorked a 45-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Jacobs in 9-on-7 drills.

Let's try to keep this to one Gore thread. There's already one going in the injuries forum. ;-D
