I agree 100%. I am one of the only guys year in and year out in my league (live in person draft every year...and a few of the guys are out of state...they fly in for the draft!) that shows up to the draft without any magazine/publication at all.
If I didn't do the research myself and put it on paper or on my laptop, then its not worth it to me. Especially since my league has a vastly different scoring system, so those magazines do nothing for me.
I'll put it this way, our scoring system is so different that last year our first round contained...
1 QB
2 WRs
3 TEs
4 RBs
Not near the 9 or 10 RB first rounds that everyone is used to seeing...and its not because anyone in our league is a retard, its highly competitive. Its that the scoring system is designed so that a top QB, a top RB, a top WR, and a top TE will all score roughly the same points by years end.
At years end our top 20 scorers looked like this..
4 QBs
6 RBs
5 WRs
5 TEs
Its done like that so whoever is picking 10th isn't stuck with the 10th (or 9th) best RB and therefore the 10th best player overall, they still, if drafted right, can have the top scorer in the league.
Edit: Obviously a type-o, its a 10 team league.
