Interesting problem.

Postby Warpigs » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:37 pm

I'm starting my second year of writing fantasy football columns for The Daily Item newspaper in central PA. After last year, I'm working hard to improve the overall fantasy package for our newspaper.

However, I was just told by our sports editor that I need to start using a column name so people can more easily recognize the article each Sunday. I am drawing a major blank on this. I really want something catchy. I was originally trying to play off the alliteration of "Fantasy" (something like "The Fantasy Fiend", but that sounds dumb). Someone suggested "The Value Vulture", but that seems weird to me, too. Any ideas of something original, yet catchy?

"Fantasy Focus"

"Fantasy Foray"

(Yeah, I know, they suck.)

!+)

I'll give it some thought though, and if inspiration strikes I'll let you know.

Is the Paige's Pickle Packers your last name, WP? If so then you can simply name your column 'The Fantasy Paige'.

I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

Is this a weekly or daily column? It sounds like it's weekly. How long is the article? What type of information do you cover, WW addtions, sleeper picks, start/bench options, weekly projections? These are all descriptive terms that would be helpful in naming your article. If it is general information that makes it a little more difficult.

For example, if it's just a quick column it could be something like the "The Five Minute Fantasy Breakdown". I have no idea how long the title of an article should be though, so maybe you're shooting for the two word alliteration because it has to be that way.

Hey.

Actually, my last name is Zaktansky. My 2-year old daughter's name is Paige, which is where I got the fantasy team name. "The Fantasy Paige" would be a little weird considering (although I really like it).

It's a weekly Sunday column. It actually winds up pretty long (around 40 inches for those familiar with newspaper jargon).
