What is the best week to start the playoffs?

I have a 12 team league and want to provide the best week to start the playoffs?

NFL teams that have locked up their playoff seed will be sitting their starters in week 17. not good for fantasy championship game.

there was a nice stretch of years in the late 90s and early 00s where all teams were consistently playing till the end.... i got doped into doing the championship game in week 17... almost lost the title when jamal lewis was pulled at half time in week 17 the year he almost broke the rushing record... not good... won by 3 points. needless to say, we changed back the next year.

Although I still hear of some leagues that buddies are in that do the Superbowl in week 17. Half your team may not play. 14-16 for sure.

The league I commish doesn't even have playoffs. We have decided to do straight regular season standings, with total points on the season breaking the tie. We still only go to week 16 though. Everyone seems to like it and it has still been close every year. Last year we had 2 teams finish 11-5 and 3 teams finish 10-6 (10 teams in league last year and 12 teams). It's not for everyone but playoffs are not necessary to make a league enjoyable. This is our 4th year and we only ran playoffs for the first year.

I guess it really depends on how many teams make the playoffs in your league.

If it's 4 teams then start in Week 15, if 6 teams start in Week 14 and give the top 2 seeds a bye week.
