Clinton Portis' playing time

what's the latest as far as him possibly sharing carries with Betts, and how injury prone is he really? I just drafted Betts in my money league in the 17th round and am hoping to get some value out of him, so any info you could give me would be much appreciated. ;-D

Well, first of all, getting Betts in the 17th round seems like a heck of a steal.

Portis and Betts likely will split time this year, with Portis getting the bulk of the carries early in the year. But I think his knee trouble and injury history will hamper him by year's end, and Betts could see the bulk of the action by the end of the season.

Basically, I only feel completely safe with Portis if I get Betts along with him. Portis will be a great back and will get most of the carries if healthy IMO, but I wouldn't feel comfortable without Betts because who knows what will happen?

I agree. Portis-Betts is one of the few must have handcuffs IMO. Some say you're almost wasting a pick since you'll have to burn a couple early picks on them, but it basically guarantees you'll get at least one very productive back, and if even if both stay healthy they should have good value since Washington can run the ball so well and Portis produced last year even when yielding some carries to Ladell.

I got Portis at 2.9 and Betts at 8.9 and I don't feel I overpaid for either. I think whoever's starting out of those two guys will give me top 10 RB production, even if it's a 60/40 split. IF Portis gets hurt, Betts will get an even bigger workload and vice versa. I feel safe.
