Lets Talk About Vince Young

He's being drafted in 7th- 8th rounds on average-

If your league like mine gives points for QB rushes as well as more points for rushing TD's than passing ones then I just don't understand why he's not being drafted any earlier-

My case in point-

scoring system/4 pts per passing TD, 6 points per rush TD, 1 point per 25 pass yds, 1 point per 10 yds rush
neg -1 per interception/fumble

lets compare Young to Carson Palmer w/2007 projections

Carson Palmer
4000 passing yds 29TD/14 INT 50 rush/0 rush Td's = 284 points

Vince Young
2400 passing yds 15TD/15 INT 570 rush/7 rush Td's 2 fumbles = 245 points

the difference is only 39 points or 2.44 points per game-
Most mock drafts show that Carson is being taken in the late 2nd or early 3rd round-

IMHO I'd rather draft a great WR or decent #2 RB in the 2nd and third rounds and wait
till the 7th or 8th round and grab Young-

Nah, but honestly, you make a good point. In a league I just drafted in, I grabbed Young at 7.3 I believe and I hope he pulls through.

I think the thing that limits or drags down Young's value is that the offensive threat it creates. I don't think he has the greatest surrounding cast, but I think that he will do extremely good (unless the Madden curse is alive and well, and it could be) and rush for some nice change that you can take to the bank weekly. I think that he has good value at round 7.

I'll add that if I do make the move for Young I will follow through in the 8th or 9th rounds
with a decent backup QB (Cutler, Eli Manning or Roethlisberger)

Never again will I defy superstition and ignore teh Madden Cover. I did that with Alexander last year and now I'm a full believer that it's real.

The Madden Curse is REAL!!! Ignore and stay away from Young this year at all costs!! Next year, maybe, pick him as a backup in a keeper or dynasty, maybe. But not this year. No way, no how!

Regardless of the Madden Curse.. Vince has to worry about all defenses keying on him. He no longer has any accomplished WRs, so when he drops back, the defense can key a guy on him to keep his rushes limited. To help with the passing attack they have no serious RB (C.Brown, L.White, C.Henry ????).

So at the skilled positions they had...
RB - Henry
WR - Bennett, Wade

Now they have
RB - who knows
WR - who knows

That is what will limit him.... he may put up some numbers, but not to his draft position.. and on top of that, he will not even come close to winning half of his games this year...

i'm picking up young when i can. mainly in dynasties or keeper types. i have him in a 2 qb league as my #1 qb. i'm a believer. he's a winner. he wills wins. he did it at texas, he did it last year at tennessee. brandon jones is going to be a good receiver. this may be the year he breaks out. the backfield is a mess, but i'm sure it is going to sort itself out soon. my money is on chris brown. until he breaks down. then a platoon of white and henry. i like young this year, and i'm not scared of the madden curse. vince will show us it's all a bunch of crap.
